Erection of a New Dwelling, Kippen, Stirling
Case Study Reference: 13-08-02
Planning Authority: Stirling Council
Planning Reference: Stirling Council and 13/00227/FUL
Synopsis:
Due the close proximity of an underground fuel tank to the site, a contaminated land planning condition was attached to the proposed development.
As the reason for the condition was known, the desk study stage was circumvented and proposals to determine if the underground fuel tank had impacted site soils were proposed, which were accepted.
The investigation comprised of the drilling of a number of dynamic sampling boreholes between the location fo the tank and the site in order to determine fi there was any evidence of hydrocarbon contamination in the soils, and subsequent analysis of site soils for hydrocarbons.
No evidence of hydrocarbon contamination was identified and the report concluded that no further works were required.
The report was submitted to the planning authority and the condition discharged, the memo can be accessed through the Stirling planning portal.
